Facilitating Industrial Workforce Competency Certification

The industrial sector is the prime mover of the country's economy with a significant contribution value. During the pandemic, the industrial sector still contributed the most to the national Gross Domestic Product (PBD) by 19.98% in the first quarter of 2020. Currently the government is concentrating on developing human resources (HR) as an effort to prepare the demographic bonus in 2030.
Followed by the good news from the homeland from the World Bank that Indonesia is now categorized as an upper middle income country from previously still in the lower middle arena. This has triggered the industrial sector to continue to produce superior and competitive industrial Human Resources (HR). Industrial HR is one of the main pillars that foster industrial growth, besides investment and technology.
"To face this challenge, superior, productive, innovative and competitive Human Resources (HR) are needed." said the Head of the BPSDMI Industrial Training Center, Dadi Marhadi, when opening the Virtual Launching of the Facilitation for Industrial Workforce Competency Certification on Wednesday (8/7).
Through work programs the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) is committed to building Industrial HR through strengthening in the field of industrial education and training.
The Head of the Industrial Education and Training Center added, BPSDMI has made various kinds of breakthroughs to accelerate the improvement of workforce competencies throughout Indonesia, one of which is through competency-based training programs.
"Recognition of a person's competence is proven by the possession of a competency certificate issued by a Professional Certification Agency (LSP) through a competency test which refers to the certification scheme owned by each LSP based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI)." he explained.
In early 2020, BPSDMI Ministry of Industry is targeting competency certification for 20,000 workers, but due to the impact of the Corona pandemic that has hit the country, the total workforce target to be facilitated by competency certification this year has changed to 4,195 people.
The competency certification facilitation activity carried out is intended for workers in the electronics industry sector who work at several electronics industry companies, namely PT. Maspion, PT. Sinko Prima Alloy and PT. ETA Indonesia. Of course, this certification activity will also be followed by other industrial sectors this year according to the target set.
